All of Yamaha's portable four-strokes are known for their clean emissions, easy cold starts, and long service life. They're significantly lighter than comparable four-strokes from other manufacturers, and Yamaha's build quality at this end of the lineup is the same standard they apply to their 300hp flagship motors.

F-Series vs T-Series — what's the difference?
The F-series portables are general-purpose outboards optimized for getting a boat on plane and running efficiently. The T-series (T9.9 and T25) are Yamaha's high-thrust variants — same horsepower, but with a larger gear case and lower gear ratio purpose-built for low-speed trolling and kicker applications. If you're rigging a dedicated kicker for salmon fishing, the T-series is the correct choice.
