Is the F25 a good upgrade from a 15hp motor?
Yes, in most cases. The F25 gets heavier boats on plane more easily, handles chop better, and leaves more throttle in reserve for safety. Confirm your boat’s maximum HP rating allows 25hp before purchasing.
What shaft length options are available?
The F25 is available in long shaft (20"), which fits most 14–17 foot aluminum fishing boats. Confirm your transom height before ordering.
Is the F25 available with electric start?
Yes. Electric start is highly recommended on a 25hp motor — at this power level, pull-starting gets old quickly, especially in cold weather.
What is the difference between the F25 and the T25?
The F25 is a general-purpose outboard optimized for getting a boat on plane. The T25 is Yamaha’s high-thrust variant purpose-built for trolling and kicker applications. If you need a dedicated kicker for salmon trolling, the T25 is the correct choice. If you need a primary outboard for a small to mid-size fishing boat, the F25 is the right motor.
