Yamaha High Thrust T-Series Outboards

The Yamaha T-Series is purpose-built for applications where low-speed thrust matters more than top-end speed. These are not standard outboards with a different badge — they are purpose-engineered motors with a larger gear case and lower gear ratio designed from the ground up for controlled low-speed performance.

The result is significantly more thrust at trolling and displacement speeds compared to standard F-series motors of the same horsepower. For salmon trolling in tidal current, moving heavy pontoons, or running slow on large displacement hulls, the T-series is the correct motor — not the F-series equivalent.

T-Series applications:

T9.9 — Dedicated kicker motor on salmon trolling boats up to ~20 feet. Qualifies under 10hp restrictions on BC lakes and regulated trolling areas.
T25 — Kicker motor on larger salmon boats 20–26 feet. Correct spec when your main motor is 150hp or larger and you need real authority at trolling speed in tidal current.
T50 — High-thrust power for heavy pontoons and large displacement hulls requiring controlled low-speed performance.
T60 — Maximum low-speed thrust from a compact 1-litre four-stroke — the right motor for large or heavily loaded pontoons where propeller efficiency at slow speeds is critical.

T-Series vs. F-Series — which do you need? If your application involves getting a boat on plane and running efficiently at speed, choose the F-series. If your application involves controlled low-speed operation — trolling, kicker duty, or moving a heavy displacement hull — choose the T-series. The horsepower ratings are the same. The motors are not.
