What shaft length should I order for the Yamaha F115?

The F115 is available in 20" (long) and 25" (extra-long) shaft lengths. Most aluminum fishing boats in the 17–19 foot range run the 20" long shaft. Fibreglass hulls, deeper transoms, and bracket-mounted applications typically require the 25" extra-long. Measure your transom from the top of the mounting bracket to the waterline with the boat at normal load before ordering.

Is the Yamaha F115 the right motor or should I step up to the F150?

If your boat is rated to 115hp maximum, the F115 is the correct motor. If your boat is rated to 150hp, the F150 is the right call — particularly for open water BC coastal use or running consistently loaded with crew and gear.
