The Yamaha T25 is the high-thrust answer for salmon anglers running bigger, heavier hulls who need more authority at trolling speed than the T9.9 provides. The T25 runs a large gear case with a low gear ratio that generates strong thrust at slow speeds. On a 21–24 foot salmon boat in tidal current, that low-end grunt is the difference between holding your line properly and fighting the motor all day.
If your main motor is a 150hp or larger and your boat is in the 20–26 foot range, the T25 is the correct kicker spec.

What makes the T25 different from the F25?
The T25 is Yamaha’s high-thrust variant — same horsepower as the F25, but with a larger gear case and lower gear ratio producing significantly more thrust at low speeds. The T25 is purpose-built for trolling and kicker applications. The F25 is not.
What size boat is the T25 right for as a kicker?

What shaft length is available?
The T25 is available in long shaft (20") and extra-long shaft (25"). Most kicker setups on BC salmon boats run the 20" configuration, but bracket-mounted setups on larger hulls may require the 25".
Can the T25 push a large boat at displacement speeds?
Yes — useful for repositioning between trolling spots or as a backup if the main engine has an issue. It is not designed to plane a heavy hull.
